Symkaton 5.0

PLN 15,000 main prize, training workshops, industry networking, and tasks powered by ICM infrastructure — registration is now open for the 5th edition of Symkaton. We invite young engineers passionate about simulation and high-performance computing to apply. Deadline for applications: June 30.

We are thrilled to launch the 5th edition of Symkaton, an engineering hackathon blending creativity, advanced simulations, and real-world technology challenges. This year, Symkom is bringing the event to life in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, University of Warsaw (ICM).

“Partnering with such a prestigious event as Symkaton is a true honor for us. For years, we have expanded our high-performance computing infrastructure and specialized tools to empower the academic community in driving advanced research and engineering. Our fruitful collaboration with Symkom plays a key role here — through Campus Licenses, users at our Data Center leverage ANSYS software, including Fluent, LS-Dyna, and Lumerical, to power their simulations,” notes Joanna Jędraszczyk, Head of the HPC User Support Team.

Symkaton goes beyond traditional competitions. It serves as an arena where engineering students solve authentic design challenges, deploying computer simulation as a core pillar of modern engineering. In the qualifying round, teams will focus on optimizing an intake manifold to ensure balanced airflow despite asymmetrical geometry.

Shortlisted finalists will receive comprehensive mentoring through free technical workshops designed to build practical experience in multi-core HPC computing. The grand finale will put participants behind the controls of industry-standard tools used by top global engineering companies, guided every step of the way by expert mentors.

Beyond the PLN 15,000 cash prize, Symkaton offers invaluable networking opportunities with global industry leaders like Hitachi and 3M, serving as event partners this year.

This joint initiative marks another milestone in connecting academia with industry—investing in tomorrow’s engineers by giving them early access to tools used in cutting-edge technology ventures.

We encourage all students to step up: test your skills, gain practical experience, and harness HPC-class infrastructure.
