ICM Projects under the Digital Poland Operational Programme
On August 1, 2018, the implementation of three projects funded under Sub-measure 2.3.1 of the Digital Poland Operational Programme began at ICM UW.
The “Domain-Specific Repositories of Open Research Data” project was designed to increase access to scientific assets through open data repositories, improve data and metadata quality, and facilitate broader reuse.
The initiative established three distinct repositories: one general-purpose platform and two domain-tailored repositories for social science data and crystallographic data. Consequently, more than 600 datasets were opened to the public. Moreover, the software framework developed during the project has vastly simplified the deployment of future domain repositories.
Executed at the University of Warsaw by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling together with the Robert Zajonc Institute for Social Studies, the project was conducted in partnership with the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Polish Academy of Sciences and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Total project funding reached PLN 4,998,889 (comprising PLN 4,230,559.76 in EU contribution and PLN 768,329.24 from the state budget).
Meanwhile, the “Platform for Polish Scientific Publications” project focused on enabling open access to scientific publications, improving the technical and legal feasibility of content reuse, and enhancing overall publication quality. Training programs conducted as part of the project helped bridge competence gaps that previously limited the dissemination and reuse of scientific texts. The project brought 90,000 scientific articles into open access, while over 500 academic books were digitised, formatted, and published. Additionally, a dedicated platform for resource sharing and management was engineered and deployed based on existing framework solutions. Total funding amounted to PLN 5,164,777.78 (including PLN 4,370,951.43 from EU funds and PLN 793,826.35 from state funds).
Furthermore, ICM UW took part in the “Digital Access to Polish Journals in Agricultural and Natural Sciences via the AGRO Database” project, led by the Poznań University of Life Sciences. This project aimed to expand the AGRO database with new digital content, including the digitization of selected academic journals. Total project value was PLN 7,442,980.00 (with an EU share of PLN 6,298,993.97 and state funding of PLN 1,143,986.03).
The projects were completed on 29 October 2021.
