VisNow – data visualization

VisNow – A Universal Data Visualization Platform

VisNow is a universal data visualization platform built on Java technology. Originally designed and developed by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM) at the University of Warsaw, its creation was the result of over a decade of continuous development.

Since 2020, the development of VisNow has shifted toward the open-source community and is currently managed by the visnow.org association, with ongoing, substantial contributions from ICM and the original VisNow team.

About VisNow

VisNow is a modular, dataflow-based platform that enables users to construct pipelines for data visualization, visual analytics, data processing, and basic simulations. Guided by the “Read and Watch” philosophy, VisNow displays data as quickly as possible, immediately offering the flexibility for further processing and in-depth visualization. In just a few steps, it allows users to create professional-grade images and videos, as well as uncover hidden insights buried within complex datasets.

Rather than striving to be just another “conventional” visualization tool, VisNow aims to overcome the limitations inherent in other similar software platforms. It is built upon the following core principles:

  • A Clear and Intuitive Dashboard
  • Support for Building Networks of Connections
  • Multi-functional Modules
  • Module–Object–Interface Coupling
