4EU+ Comprehensive and integrative educational program in oncology 4EU+ Alliance Against Cancer

The 4EU+ Against Cancer summer school is part of the “Health and Demographic Change in an Urban Environment” initiative – the first flagship program of the 4EU+ Alliance (4EU+ Flagship 1). The project is open to students from 4EU+ partner universities holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree who are interested in pursuing further education in the field of oncology. The one-week 4EU+ Against Cancer program is filled with lectures, participant presentations, and opportunities for networking and collaboration with researchers and students from other universities.

The first edition of the summer school was organized by ICM UW and took place in Warsaw in July 2022. Students had the opportunity to learn about preclinical and clinical research in oncology, large-scale biomedical data analysis, and an overview of current chemical research. An important part of the program was also a day dedicated to practical advice on grant writing, science communication, and research commercialization.

4EU+ Against Cancer is co-led by three researchers from three academic institutions affiliated with 4EU+:

  • Catherine Suski-Grabowski, PhD, Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM), co-coordinator of 4EU+ Flagship 1 at the University of Warsaw;
  • Prof. Aleksi Sedo, Czech Academy of Sciences and Charles University;
  • Prof. Ahmed Idbaih, Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), Sorbonne University.
