AI in Medical Imaging

The team specializes in leveraging artificial intelligence methodologies for the processing and analysis of medical data evaluated visually by clinicians. Our ongoing projects primarily focus on:

  • Noise and artifact reduction
  • Pathology detection
  • Segmentation (delineating precise boundaries of organs or lesions)
  • Pathology grading and staging

The team possesses extensive expertise in chest computed tomography (CT) analysis, notably chest CT imaging for lung cancer diagnostics, as well as cardiac and coronary CT angiography. Furthermore, the team has a proven track record working with echocardiography (ECHO) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS).

We have also analyzed the structural condition of major tendons and ligaments (principally the Achilles tendon and anterior cruciate ligament—ACL) leveraging magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Core AI techniques utilized include:

  • Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)
  • Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks
  • Traditional machine learning methods (shallow neural networks, k-NN, k-means)

We partner with a wide range of leading medical institutions, including:

  • Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) Clinical Hospitals
  • Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences (MMRI PAS)
  • Department of Endocrinology, Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP)
  • National Institute of Cardiology
