Catherine Suski-Grabowski, PhD

Bio

A researcher in genomic analysis. She is a graduate of Université Paris-Saclay, where she studied Molecular Genetics. In 2002, she defended her doctoral dissertation on DNA replication, graduating with high honors (avec les félicitations du jury). Between 2003 and 2010, her research focused on structural blockades in DNA, conducted at institutions including the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (Cancer Research UK) at John Radcliffe Hospital, University of Oxford.

From 2011 to 2017, she led a research group at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBB PAN). Supported by grants from the National Science Centre (NCN, 2012–2016) and the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP, 2013–2015), she investigated the impact of polymerase damage on DNA replication through in vitro and in silico studies.

Since 2018, she has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Warsaw and project leader of the “Comprehensive and Integrative Educational Program in Oncology,” funded by the 4EU+ European University Alliance. Since 2019, she has also served as the coordinator for the 4EU+ Flagship 1 program, “Health and Demographic Change in an Urban Environment.”

Since 2019, she has directed postgraduate courses in Omics Data Science (bioinformatics), funded through the POWER grant. Between 2020 and 2023, she led the project “Identification of Genetic and Environmental Factors in PIMS Syndrome Activation in Poland Using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS),” conducted in collaboration with the Medical University of Warsaw. In 2022, she coordinated the lecture series “Computer Simulations in Biology and Medicine” for the Master’s degree program in Computational Engineering at ICM UW.

Additionally, since 2023, she has been collaborating with the Klara Jelska Specialist Hospital for Lung Diseases “Odrodzenie” in Zakopane in establishing its molecular biology laboratory, securing certifications, as well as conducting and analyzing NGS studies.
