Jakub Zieliński, PhD
Assistant ProfessorJakub Zieliński, PhD is a graduate of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw. He previously worked at the Department of Biophysics and Human Physiology at the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW). He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at ICM UW.
Professional experience in major research projects
- member of the team forecasting the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic in Poland, led by Dr. Franciszek Rakowski (ICM UW).
- reconstruction of coronary vessels based on CT scans and analysis of blood flow pathophysiology in diseased coronary vessels, within the TRAFIC project (ICM UW)
- MRI-based analysis of the healing and reconstruction process of the Achilles tendon, within the START project (ICM UW)
- preparation of scientific reports for the KARDIONET project (ICM UW)
- statistical analyses in the field of tissue engineering (MUW)

- Development of a Holter monitoring analysis system
- Implementation of medical algorithms in a pulse oximeter integrated with an ECG machine
Research interest
- Medical Applications of Statistics & AI: Deep learning in medical imaging and ECG signal processing, machine learning in ECG and laboratory test analysis, and medical statistics.
- Modeling of Complex Biological Systems: Physical foundations of cardiology and pulmonology (ECG analysis, heart rate variability studies, blood vessel geometry, respiratory biophysics), modeling of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic, as well as pathophysiology and complications of diabetes.
- Scientific Visualization & Visual Analytics: Quantitative medical image processing and analysis, CT artifact reduction, and noise reduction.
