Virtual ICM Seminars

The Virtual ICM Seminars in Computer and Computational Science, initiated by Dr. Marek Michalewicz and organized by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM) at the University of Warsaw, were a continuation of the Supercomputing Frontiers Europe 2020 conference, which was held virtually in March 2020.

These global online meetings, hosted in the spirit of Open Science, focused on HPC, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Big Data, IoT, and computer and data networks. They served as a platform for discussion and interaction with prominent figures such as Stephen Wolfram (Founder & CEO of Wolfram Research), Alan Edelman (MIT), Aneta Afelt (ICM, Espace-DEV, IRD Montpellier France), Simon Mutch (University of Melbourne), and Scott Aaronson (University of Texas at Austin).

Between March 2020 and January 2021, over 1,600 attendees from virtually all time zones participated in 21 virtual sessions. Furthermore, the Supercomputing Frontiers Europe website, hosting the video recording library of the presentations, attracted over 18,000 visitors from 122 countries.
