Supercomputing Frontiers Europe
Between 2018 and 2021, ICM organized the international “Supercomputing Frontiers Europe” conference and the “Virtual ICM Seminars in Computer and Computational Science” series. On the following subpages, we present the archived websites of these projects (SCFE, VIRTUAL ICM SEMINARS), along with video recordings of the speakers (MEDIA).
Supercomputing Frontiers Europe
Supercomputing Frontiers is an annual international conference that provides a platform for “thought leaders” from academia and industry to interact and discuss visionary ideas, major trends, and key innovations in the field of supercomputing. The word “frontiers” in the conference name should be interpreted very broadly—frontiers lose their meaning when discussing science.
The first three editions of the “Supercomputing Frontiers” conference were organized in Singapore by the A*STAR Computational Resource Centre and the National Supercomputing Centre Singapore. The SCF meetings were initiated by Dr. Marek Michalewicz, the then director of the A*STAR Computational Resource Centre. Subsequent editions from 2018 to 2021 were moved to Poland, rebranded as “Supercomputing Frontiers Europe,” and organized by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM) at the University of Warsaw.
The conferences showcase a rich scientific program. During the virtual meeting in 2021, the main themes included special architectures, hybrid cloud/HPC, smart systems, hybrid quantum computing and HPC, omics and systems biology, the convergence of HPC, AI, and Big Data, semantic and graph methods, and more. The program also highlighted selected achievements in India and Africa.
Every year, SCF features distinguished presenters, including world-renowned keynote speakers:
