Meteo’s Weather
For nearly three decades, the Meteo Team at ICM, University of Warsaw, has specialized in numerical weather prediction (NWP) modeling for Poland and Central Europe. Our experts spearhead the development of advanced research and development (R&D) products, analyzing the complex dependencies of various economic sectors on meteorological conditions. A hallmark of our work is the widely recognized and highly acclaimed weather service, meteo.pl, which delivers high-resolution weather forecasts to individual users, public institutions, business partners, and numerous R&D initiatives.
The meteo.pl platform offers hourly meteograms, interactive maps, synoptic commentaries, and access to a comprehensive data archive dating back to 1997, which is widely utilized in both scientific and business analyses.
Our numerical forecasts are computed operationally on ICM’s supercomputers leveraging world-class meteorological models. Key among them is the UM (Unified Model), actively developed and refined through international collaboration within the Momentum Partnership consortium. This collective effort facilitates the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and innovative solutions, ultimately enhancing forecast accuracy and expanding the model’s operational applications. The participation of ICM UW and the Meteo Team in the consortium significantly strengthens the position of Polish research groups within the international scientific community, while driving the evolution of critical tools for climate research and weather forecasting.
The team actively fosters collaborations with individual users, academic institutions, and business partners.
