Launch of the Diamond Discovery Hub
At the CRAFT-OA project conference in Göttingen, Germany, the official launch of the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) took place, a system developed by our Software Development Team and hosted on the ICM University of Warsaw servers. The launch of this open-access diamond journals platform was made possible through a three-year collaboration involving 23 partners from 14 European countries, funded under the Horizon Europe program.
The Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) is a European online platform that serves as a central registry and search engine for diamond open access journals. Developed within the three-year CRAFT-OA project and forming part of the European Diamond Discovery Hub (EDCH), it aims to enhance the visibility and accessibility of diamond journals managed by academic institutions and research communities. The system is based on a set of diamond criteria jointly defined by experts from the CRAFT-OA and DIAMAS projects, ensuring the credibility and consistency of the data presented.
The ICM Software Development Team was responsible for the technical design and programming of the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH). The team was also actively involved in analytical work and in defining the functional scope of the platform. Its ongoing and future tasks include ensuring the stable operation of the system, planning further development, and providing technical support for users. ICM also contributes to the platform’s sustainability by hosting it on its own servers.
The Diamond Discovery Hub is one of the outcomes of the broader CRAFT-OA project (Creating a Robust Accessible Federated Technology for Open Access), carried out under the EU Horizon Europe Framework Programme (HORIZON-INFRA). Details regarding ICM’s funding can be found [here].
The DDH platform and the results of the CRAFT-OA project were presented at the University of Göttingen during the October conference titled “Crafting the Future of Diamond Open Access: Technical, Social & Political Perspectives of Scholarly Publishing.” The full event program and recordings from all three conference days (October 6–8, 2025) are available at craft-oa.eu/conference/.
