Ministerial grant for Warsaw Team

Five IT students who formed the Warsaw Team under the supervision of Dr. Maciej Cytowski (ICM) have been honoured by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education with a grant for the most excellent student teams. Its aim is to support highly talented students in developing their scientific activity by enabling them to participate in important international competitions and conferences.

Warsaw Team is a five-person team that had qualified for the finals of the Asia Student Supercomputer Challenge 2017, a prestigious contest for young and passionate coders interested in programming for supercomputers, defeating competitors from 210 universities from all over the world. Ultimately, the team won second place in the High Performance Linpack category. The team’s impressive result has been noticed by industry websites like HPCwire and The Register. The team is made up of students from the University of Warsaw (Marcin Mielniczuk, Szymon Pajzert, Adam Sobecki, Jan Kopański) and the Mechanics and Military University of Technology in Warsaw (Bartosz Zięba).

Currently, the Warsaw Team is preparing for the Student Cluster Competition that will take place in November during the SC conference in Denver. Keep your fingers crossed for the boys!
