National Data Repository for EOSC
With funding from the European Funds for a Modern Economy, KMD4EOSC is being developed, a universal infrastructure for storing, sharing, and efficiently processing large volumes of data within HPC, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence models. The Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling of the University of Warsaw (ICM UW) is implementing the project in cooperation with universities and HPC centers across Poland.
As part of the KMD4EOSC project, ICM UW is co-creating infrastructure and services that enable the storage, sharing, and advanced processing of research data.
“We focus on developing and implementing comprehensive solutions to support data management in line with FAIR principles at every stage of the data lifecycle, as well as creating tools for data indexing, searching, and aggregation,” emphasizes Jakub Szprot, one of the project leaders at ICM UW.
The project will benefit the academic and R&D communities, including universities, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), R&D units – State Research Institutes (PIB), entities from the Łukasiewicz Research Network, as well as broadly defined economic entities, particularly those interested in new technologies and using them to gain a competitive advantage during the digital transformation period. KMD4EOSC is also aimed at public administration and society, providing access to open data in a non-discriminatory and equal manner for all.
The project is financed by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy program (FENG.02.04-IP.04-0015/24-00) and will be carried out from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027. The total value of the project is PLN 241,250,005.87, with PLN 147,036,966.15 coming from European Funds, including PLN 13,875,187.00 in funding for ICM UW.
