Abstract

IBM Quantum continues to make major strides in expanding access to quantum computing and bringing it closer to real-world use. Recent updates highlight advances in both hardware performance and software integration, allowing users to work more efficiently between classical and quantum systems. IBM is also broadening global access through improved learning resources and open-source tools like Qiskit, helping students, researchers, and developers explore quantum computing more easily.

In the past year, IBM has deployed several new quantum systems across the world, expanding its global quantum network. The latest Heron-series processors, such as the 156-qubit IBM Quantum Heron R2 systems, are now operational in multiple locations, including Europe, the United States, and Japan. A notable milestone was the installation of a Heron-based system at RIKEN in Japan, marking the first IBM Quantum System Two outside the U.S. These deployments are enabling closer collaboration between quantum and classical high-performance computing centers, accelerating algorithm development and real-world experimentation.

Altogether, these updates mark an important step toward making quantum technology practical, collaborative, and accessible to everyone.
